The defamation charges filed by Law Professor from Universitas Padjadjaran, Romli Atmasasmita, are moving onward. The Police utilizes articles found in Law on Electronic Information and Transactions (UU ITE) in order to penalize Indonesia Corruption Watch: article 27 paragraph (3) of UU ITE. Institute for Criminal Justice Reform (ICJR) suspected that this article is used for its repressive nature and high penalty terms, which are accompanied by prison sentences of up to 6 years, six times the maximum for defamation itself.

Indonesian Ambassador to Singapore, Andri Hadi, said the city state's government has not answered Bareskrim's request to examine Honggo Wendratno in Singapore. Honggo was named as suspect in the alleged corruption of condensate sales by Trans Pacific Petrochemical Indotama (TPPI). Of the three suspects named, only Honggo remains to be examined.

"Dahlan Iskan Questioned in Third Case"

Former Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN), Dahlan Iskan, was again questioned by Bareskrim as witness in an alleged corruption case at the Ministry's paddy field consultation and construction project in Ketapang, West Kalimantan. This case is the third one to allegedly involve Dahlan. Previously, Dahlan was named as suspect in corruption of electric relay stations construction project and questioned as witness by the Attorney General Office regarding procurement of electric cars.

"KY: Judge Sarpin Violated Code of Ethics"

After a heated deliberation, the Judicial Commission (KY) announced its ruling in a code of ethics violation examination involving Sarpin Rizaldi, a judge from South Jakarta District Court. Sarpin was found guilty of violating Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct for Judges, with KY rating him unprofessional during his examination of the pretrial appeal filed by Commissioner-General Budi Gunawan. KY recommended a 6-month court ban for Sarpin to be sentenced by the Supreme Court.

Former Deputy Minister Denny Indrayana was named as suspect in the case about payment gateway project in 2014 at the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights. Today (7/1), Directorate of Corruption Crimes at Bareskrim is scheduled to question Denny for the fifth time.
